Are you finding yourself going a little stir crazy, staring at the same four walls day in and day out? You might check out the timely release of a series of soothing video tours of Philip Johnson’s Glass House called “Texture + Transparency.” Using Point Cloud technology, architectural photographer Michael Biondo and the reality capture team Michael Robison and Dallas Bennett of MYND Workshop sought to create video tours that also explore the 3D spatial experience and relationships among the property’s buildings. Take a cyber stroll through the 49 acre estate, no mask required.
If the videos whet your appetite for even more information about Philip Johnson, you’re in luck. Phaidon has just published a new visual biography of the architect by journalist Ian Volner. The 400 page book contains some 600 photographs and illustrations. Here’s a link to order the book and one for an interview with the author, who likened his experience putting the book together to “treasure hunting.”
